My wife and I would like to pick up 2 multi-tools for our friends that just bought a house. They constantly borrow my LM Charge TI when we're together so we thought it'd be nice to pick one up for each of them.

I've had LMs for decades now, but I know how to take care of my tools. Given that my Charge TI quickly develops light surface rust should we buy them a Swisstool instead?

I'd like to have a spear/clip point and scissors if possible. Scissors are a dead necessity, spear/clip point I'm flexible on. Does swisstool provide or offer a pocket clip?

Features I'd like them to have:
Blade
Scissors
Pliers
Flat
Phillips
Saw
File
Bottle/can opener

Recommendations? We're not worried about price. Are the skeletool CX's still junk?

A Swisstool is a pretty rugged , nearly rustproof piece . Waves might be a good option . the Skeletool is a light duty tool , but not junk ( the light duty status is due to relatively small cast pliers and short overall length ) .

The Swisstool Spirit is nearly as capable as it's older brother , but has a smaller , more ergonomic form factor .

Go Swisstool. Has all the tools you mentioned and is very corrosion resistant.

If they don't need a large size tool, get the Vic Spirit X. This has a spearpoint blade.

Neither tool offer a pocket clip, though some folk have modded the Spirit with a pocket clip, usually that from a LM Kick.

Felinevet at SOSAK on line has an aftermarket clip for the Swisstool/Spirit , no mods required .

I think they both have pros and cons and I think either would be appreciated.

You already know they like your LM and they have so many models/sizes to choose from.

but if you get them a ST you can borrow it from them! :D

Good luck and let us know what you get them and what they think ;)
