I'm thinking of getting a Vic Manager ..... http://www.swissarmy.com/MultiTools/Pages/Product.aspx?category=executive&product=53031& ..... (but, I'm open to other suggestions also.) ;)

I have a couple of questions before I order, though: Are there any models with an ink pen and a toothpick? Or if not, if I ordered a "replacement" toothpick, would it fit in the slot for the tweezers? I'm thinking I'd like to try something with an ink pen, but I don't want to give up the toothpick since I use it daily, and hardly ever use the tweezers.

Also, is the pen adequate for making quick notes, etc.? I understand you wouldn't want to write a novel with something that small, but for an emergency edc pen, is it OK? Does the pen stay in the body of the knife when writing, or do you take it completely out to write? Thanks!

The toothpick and tweezer ends of the 91 mm SAKs only fit in one side, but the smaller 58 and 74 mm SAKs will have the tweezers or toothpicks fit in either side. Luckily I don't think they have a pen one in the 91 mm length so that shouldn't be a problem to switch sides. I am not too sure about Wenger, but I think they do the same thing.

The pen works fairly well for short notes being standard ballpoint pens. The retractable pens are probably the easiest versions. The older removable ones that fit in the scales were a little flimsy and difficult to use in my opinion. The retractable one is not as comfy as a real pen, but that goes without saying really.

Yes the pen stays in the body and is adequate for making quick notes. I read in the manual that if you open the nail vile, it will rest against the palm of your hand during writing, which makes writing more comfortable and it is.

Thanks guys! Looks like it should work! I'm off to order one, and a pack of small replacement toothpicks. :D

I have one of these small Vics on my keychain (knife, scissors, nail file). I switched the tweezer for a toothpick (most likely from a spare Classic) and it's stayed put. I use the pen infrequently, but when I do it works. I'll take the pen over tweezers.
