I don't know how many of you knew Victor, but Vic passed away last month. Dutchy-7 was his Ebay name, and I'm sure a few of you knew him as a quality Ebay seller (always had a dark blue backing on his pictures), as well as a worthy opponent. Vic was one of the first "online knife friends" I made. He did not participate as a contributing Blade Forum member, but he "looked in". I bought several knives from him in the past few years, and we emailed back and forth occasionally, much like I do with some of you.

I believe it was either Eric or Russell that bought one of his last EBay knives, a bone handled 294 half-trapper I believe it was. Vic was fond of trappers, and of Schrades, and I saw a knife last night that reminded me of him, and thought he might no longer be with us. I found his obituary online.

He was a good man. I'll bet a few more of you might have known him.

didnt know him hal, cant imagine why not considering all the knives ive bought the past 5 years. must have been a good seller. wished i would have known him being he only lives 30 or so miles from me. my inlaws live in the same town as he did, ill ask my father in law if he knew him. (waylon jennings home town also). thanks for sharing----brady

I think it must of been Eric you were thinking of regarding the 294 thawk! It's obviously not nice to loose someone in any respect, especially having so much contact with someone even if you never met face to face. It definately hits when you here of bad news like that. I'm sure I know the blue background as you mentioned from his auctions, he always had some very desirable items.

Russell

Damn sorry to hear about his passing thawk, it was me that bought that 294 off him. Heck of a nice guy, we had exchanged a few e-mails as well regarding that sale, as I recall he had just gotten out of the hospital at the time. It's a real shame when you hear of the passing of such nice folks, my deepest condolences to his family. Here's a shot of the knife, it resides as my background image, one of my all time favorites:

R.I.P! I never knew him, but sorry you fellows miss him.
I "borrowed" your desktop Eric, so he'll have a memorial here for a while.
I'd sure like to be remembered with a nice knife . . .some year in the future!

hal, had achance to ask my mother in law about him via email (perfect way to communicate with mother in laws lol!), here is what she wrote, thought this might be of interest to you------brady

Yes we knew "Vic" very well. He had been in bad health for many years. His wife, Alice, is a friend of mine. She runs the Friends of the Library little bookstore. She is a very prominent person in Littlefield. She is the one that gets all my used books. She has written a cookbook which is a good book..................................

Hey Eric, wondering if you could fix the picture of the 294 in this thread. Thanks.

That's really strange, I'll change that right up, might have substitute till I can get a new pic, lost all my old ones last year when my computer blew :grumpy:

Eric

PS- Got it changed, I think that's the right knife. Not such a great pic sitting on my chair by the light of the ceiling fan, but it's better than a random boarding pass!
