I recently picked up a dirt cheap Ontario Scimitar on the bay, and it's ia great knife. The local knife counter @ my favorite sporting goods store has an amazing looking Victorinox 17" Scimitar knife that keeps catching my eye. Soooooooo, here's my problem: what are these knives for? I like the style of the blade, but I'm not hot on owning a knife and not knowing what to do with it.

Ideas what these are made for?

By the picture, I would guess either cutting ham or for champagne opening ceremonies?
But it has edge, and if it cuts, shouldn't that be enough reason to buy it? :D

It always struck me as a meat slicing design. Ham, turkey, roasts...

Around here they use them for dressing bluefin tuna but they are industrial meat cutting knives. Victorinox has a line of commercial grade knives similar in quality to Dexter Russell's Sani-Safe line.
