Trying to decide which one of the three to buy:

Spirit: Combi-edge blade and scissors ..... no large blade

Spirit S: Combi-edge blade and large blade ..... no scissors

Spirit X: Large blade and scissors ..... no combi-edge blade

Like most of you, I carry a knife with a regular blade, and also a small SAK with scissors. I'm leaning towards getting one with the combi-edge blade only because I don't already carry that type of blade. Looks like I'll "double up" on either a large blade or the scissors ..... probably "six of one and half dozen of the other", in that it probably won't matter much. But I'd like to hear your thoughts on all three. ;) Thanks!

I have the Spirit S, and since I already carry an Executive and, when I carry a fanny pack, also a Micra, I'm already covered as far as scissors go. I prefer the option of a regular and a serrated blade. Even if I rarely use the knife blades on my Spirit S, they're good to have as back-up.

I have an X and a Standard Spirit , and want an S , guess I'm the wrong fella to ask !

If I were to get another Spirit or it was my first I think I'd prefer the original Spirit with scissors and combo-blade (butter knife).

Like you I carry a dedicated blade so while the regular PE spear point is nice (backup) I never use it.

and I don't use scissors that often but when I do they are nice to have and nothing quite works as fast and good on small stuff like paper, grooming lol!

but I got my Spirit-S on a special (BO) really cheap NIB so I nabbed it. I think I use the pliers, file (very aggressive one) and the awl a lot and that combo blade sure is sweet the way they designed it.

Let us know what you get! ;)

I have the X. Wouldn't mind getting a serrated version with the scissors if it was a usual blade not that butter blade style.
But after I go it, I ditched the Vic i was carrying since it was only for the scissors

I got the X because of the plain edge blade and scissors. I use my scissors a lot to cut ties and the plain edge blade is just easier to sharpen.

I own all three variations. I would personally go with the standard Spirit. This way, you have a good one hand opening/easily accessible blade and a blade for rough work i.e cutting rope, hose, carpet, and anything else that is fibrous.

I have the standard butter-knife Spirit. Since I always carry a dedicated knife, I'd rather have a extra, SE, blade that I use sometimes, versus a PE one that I'll never use.

I made a similar decision a while back, and went with the ordinary Spirit.

Now that I've done so, I'd say to go with the Spirit S. The scissors don't impress me terribly much. Look at a picture of the Spirit's scissors. That's the maximum they open.

The plain blade will also give you the option of a "beater" blade if you don't want to use your good knife.

Thanks for all the thoughts, guys - just what I was looking for to help make a decision!

I decided to go with the Spirit S. I think the combi-edge blade (butter blade) could come in handy at times, so it came down to pairing it with either the regular spear point blade or the scissors. While I probably won't use the regular blade much, having it as a back-up beater blade sounded a little more useful than having back-up scissors.
