I just looked at the new Victorinox Trekker. It's nice. I wonder if the Trekker will give the Farmer some competition?

Thanks for the reply. The Farmer is selling very well! That is the only knife my knife-knut buddy carries now!

I had a Trekker until I lost it. My impression of it was that it was big and heavy. I much prefer the Farmer for EDC.

Although the tool selection is similar I feel that the Farmer and the Trekker fill different roles so I don't see them as direct competition. I've EDCed a Vic Rucksack (trekker with a corkscrew instead) for years with pocket carry. Because of this, I don't currently have a need for a Farmer in my line-up. I'm still going to get one though. They are just too good! As always, get both.

Yep, at Vic prices, why not get one of each;)

Honestly, I have to debate every day with SAK to carry. Is it going to be the Farmer or Fireman? Both are very similar in size an function with Fireman only getting ahead on size, locking blade, and serrated knife and corkscrew. Generally speaking, the Fireman gets the nod when I'm going outdoors. However, the farmer is just too dang handy not to have around EDC.

Personally, I'm just not a fan of one handed Vics. I'll probably stick with my Farmer.

Got an OHT a few months ago and still evaluating. It is bigger, but more comfortable in the hand than the Farmer, especially for extensive use. That little keyring stud on the Farmer can be a nuisance, although not a deal breaker.

If you can, get both. Otherwise, choose one. It will be the right choice.

Just scored another Blue Farmer---now I have one I can use instead of leave tucked away in the collection. Carrying a Red Farmer now---with a couple spares tucked away.

Still don't have a Silver one----but figured one wouldn't be all that hard to come by.

It is funny you mentioned this because I just bought a Vic Trekker as I am always needing a screw driver and my regular knife does not have one. Now My little Wenger Esquire has company. And to think I was buying high dollar knives for everyday use. These things are great!
