The Alox line of Victorinox has a bigger/thicker large main blade. Does the pen blade of the Alox line have the same traits over the pen blade on the standard models?

Thanks.

Bump. Someone must know if the Alox pen blade is different from the standard pen blade.

i ordered a bantam alox II yesterday. when i get it i'll compare it to my tinker's small blade and let you know.

Great! But isn't the Bantam smaller then the Farmer? It may not match up in size so the pen blade would be smaller. Apples to oranges comparison. Anyway that is great, lets see what happens.

Not all of the ALOX have the thicker blades. Models that are not "variants" of the Soldier use thinner blades, probably the same ones as in the normal plastic handled models. The Bantam Alox has a thinner blade. I am not sure what you mean by the pen blade. I think you mean the small blade, and the only Alox model I have with a pen blade is the Secretary and the small blade is very reminiscent of the Classic.

So am I. The reason I ask is becase I'm kicking around the idea doing a custom Alox. Large and small blade, scissors and maybe a saw. Just cutting devices, no can/bottle opener or screwdrivers.

Yes, it is thicker on the Alox. I looked at my Pioneer Settler and my Deluxe Tinker and visually, the pen blade on the Settler is obviously beefier. I measured the spine thicknesses with my dial caliper:

Deluxe Tinker: .060
Pioneer Settler: .075 (25% thicker than the Deluxe Tinker)

I'm away from home at the moment so I don't have my notes, but blade thickness goes alox 93mm (2.75mm), then 111mm (2.5mm), then 91mm (2.?mm) then 84mm (?), then 74mm (?) and finally 58mm (?). The 84mm alox and cellidor (plastic) use the same blade size. I forget where the 108mm blades fit (discontinued). I don't know the size of the 93mm pen/pruner/electrical blade though, they fit in the same spot as the awl so they have to be the same size a the awl.

I'm thinking of the Pen (small) blade on the Pioneer Settler (91mm/3.5") Alox.

The Pioneer settler is 93mm not 91mm, this does make a difference. The pivot holes are different sizes (3mm on the 93mm alox and 2.5mm on the 91mm cellidor).

Is the Pioneer Settler pen larger then the Deluxe Tinker? Longer, wider blade, etc.

Thank you.
