Which one would you pick? For me it is a tough toss since the small blade seems very handy but the small philips screwdriver is also ever so useful..

Please assume no keyring on the pioneer. Since even if it had it I would remove it..

Personally, electrician. I find that blade more useful for my daily tasks like opening box's and cutting tape.

Pioneer hands down.

If I need a blade, it's got one. I don't need a second blade on the knife to do more knife jobs. If the blade gets dull, I sharpen it. But I would miss the can opener tool. It has so many job capabilities, like using as a small flat phillips screw driver, heavy copper staple puller, pot hook on campouts, You can even open a can with it if you need. If I do need another cutting edge, the sharp edge on the Vic awl is a very good cutter or twine, wire insulation, and other stuff you may not want to mess up the main blade on. I view the edge of the awl as a second blade. But the electrician blade won't handle the small phillips screws that the whole world seems to be held together with these days. The SD tip on the can opener fits number 1 and 2 phillips great.

I experience something similar. Even opening letters or using it as a "public" edge the awl has done a great job. Which was why I wanted the electrician, since the sheepsfoot blade would be a good public knife around this areas.

This weekend the pioneer (I just got the electrician today) helped me cut to size (it is an old lobster trap) and add some screws to hold wire hangers to be able to fix this new contraption to the wall of my house. Your post made me realize that without the little philips screwdriver the wood screws wouldn't have gone in (the philips tool at my house was too big for them).

I have been carrying the electrician today and already I miss the little philips screwdriver.. and haven't come by a task that the little sheepfoot does that the awl couldn't do. So I thought I would get the forum's opinion and the why's they prefer one or the other.

Honestly I'd rather have the sheepsfoot blade than the main blade, along with both screwdrivers, and the awl. The sheepsfoot is thinner, might even be able to squeeze in the pruning blade without adding width.

But I have my Electrician in my pocket and not my Pioneer.

I would pick the Pioneer. The sheep foot blade of the Electrician works nice, but I prefer having the small screw driver / can opener on the Pioneer. Every now and then I use the small screw driver and sometimes the can opener.

I was up in the air deciding which alox SAK I should get, the Pioneer or Electrician. The other day I decided to go with the Pioneer. I didn't need a smaller blade with the cresent edge. All what the Pioneer has I would use. I don't particularly like the key ring but I can live with it.

I took it off with wire cutters (an alot of strength) then with the inside of some long pliers (you could use a file or a dremel) I filed down the excess left behind. It worked out really well, it takes a few minutes but just be patient. I like the pioneer much better like that and it doesnt tear up my pant's pockets
