Victorinox AUTOTOOL ??

Yes , I have one . A very unique multi in that it is the only one to have a built in tire pressure gauge , built in windshield ice scraper , flashlight , fuse puller , a flat and philips screwdriver , knife , all tools lock, and a pliers . A somewhat large , tool hardly built to go in one's pocket but put into a glove box or under the seat of the car a very handy compact unit for a motorist .

There are MANY specialized multi's out there .

There is another multi made by Wenger with an automobile type function - implement . It has a tire tread depth measuring gauge , an odd implement in a multi tool but I am sure that it has an appeal to some . I have one of these in my collection , it is a nice looking piece . Rather obscure ,it is the Wenger Porsche design multi tool . An example of this can be seen at :

True but I had never heard of Vic making any other multi apart from the SwissTool - so this one came as a surprise !!

Wonder why they discontinued it ?

What are its weight and dimensions ?
What was its purchase price ?
What is your opinion of it overall ?
How does it compare to other tools ?

Would you recommend motorists get one !!

Sorry for all the questions ! :)

Another that you might look up would be the Victorinox SportRatchet , thier sailors knives I liked though most would say that is a SAK and not a multi .

Wonder why they discontinued it ?

Lack of sales likely , if it had been successful it would be still available . I see a knock off of the Auto tool at some Chinese manufacturer web sites .

What are its weight and dimensions ?

I do not have a weight scale here that will measure that small but its at least 60% heavier than a Leatherman PST .
Dimensions are : 4 7/8" x 1 7/16" x 1 1/8"
A PST is 4" x 1" x 1/2"

What was its purchase price ?

Seems that I rember paying about $90.00 for it at the time I got it . Which was probably list price at the time , I think that I got it 4 -5 years ago .

What is your opinion of it overall ?

Portions of it are made in plastic , the ice scraper and fuse puller but sturdy enought if they are not abused . A metal ice scraper would be hard on windshields . There is a battery in it that needs to be checked for the flashlight and the tire pressure gauge is a digital readout . It is not a piece of junk . I have not seen Victorinox make trash .

How does it compare to other tools ?

Have you found another to compare it too that incorporates all these features ?

Would you recommend motorists get one !!

If one wants a multi that incorporates all those features into one package then yes , but even though I myself love multis they will likely never be as good as dedicated single purpose tools .

Sorry for all the questions !

WOW !! thanks for the info :)

What battery size does it take ?

Is the flashlight any good - LED bulb by any chance !?

Is the Pressure Gauge accurate ?

Would you say it was worth paying about $50 for ?

Sorry for even more questions :)

N size 1.5 volt

It would not shine across any distance but it will do more than find a key slot.
It appers to be a small incandescent , ,my eyes are not that good anymore and I do not have a magnifying glass here .

Is the Pressure Gauge accurate ?

In honesty I have not used mine , it is part of a collection of some 600 multi's that I have .

It's discontinued , where else are you going to find it cheaper ? If it's worth it to you , buy it .

Hello All,

This is an interesting piece. Probably, as someone said, didn't sell well and is gone. One has been in my glove compartment through two Jeeps and has done well. The Air Pressure Gauge seems about right on, the flashlight allows for reasonable search of things that don't work. The fuse puller is ,well, interesting. The windshield scraper is very cool, but not a long time design from a durability standpoint.

I took mine out of the Jeep a few weeks ago when I realized they were discontinued.

What is it worth? Well, how bad do you want to qualify as an SAK multitool collectors?

Best - Joe

I thought that the last thing that you said about the spirit was:

"Starting to think Vic Spirit might not be so great :(

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The curvy design seems more style over function ?

The main blade is a strange combo with a serrated edge and flat tip head ? "

Yeah.... but I won't really know if I like it or not unless I buy one !!

Well its probably only gonna cost about $30 bux so why not !! :)

Save your money , as I said earlier there are a lot of specialized multi's out there .

Well I am sure you will get one to add to your vast collection !!

Maybe if you tell me about the Spirit once you get one, it would ease my curiosity :)

I usually wait after the initial rush is over on new ones anymore . Considering that Leatherman has at least 6 new ones all coming out soon so they say and Victorinox and others are likely to show up . It has gotten expensive to keep up . I know a few dealers that I can work a deal with when I have a list of tools and buy a number of different ones at the same time .

Heres a couple of different ones for you to " bang " around :
