I was browsing through my SAKs and realised that I never use the belt cutter. For those who aren't familiar with the belt cutter that can be found on several Victorinox models, it's the one hand opening blade on the left:

What do you use the belt cutter for?

Basically that is a "rescue" blade for cutting seatbelts away in emergencies OR use cutting things like webbing or paracord, like a tangled parachute rigging! but it works for a lot of cuts where a hawk'sbill blade would be useful.

I use the "gutting" blade on my Hunter the same way. Webbign, strapping, plastic wrap, rope, etc. etc. Everywhere you would prefer a serrated blade anyway.

Got a green 111mm fireman, but also never use the seatbelt cutter.. Yup it can be use as gutting blade for hunting.. Like its been said,it can be use as a subtitute for serration.. Its very sharp and would came handy for rescue.

I knew that it's a kind of rescue blade, have it on my Rescue Tool too, but seem not able to find much other use for it. I also wonder why the military wanted this blade instead of a saw. Maybe soldiers cut a lot of ropes and belts?
