I like hiking and really long walks, but i don't like to have stuff in my pants pockets while I walk. I just got a pouch for 1 - 4 layered tools (+flashlight) and noticed that the bare essentials I want with me fit perfectly:

That's a flashlight (POS cheapie that'll be replaced by a MagLite Solitaire), a BIC lighter and a Victorinox Tinker. A Soldier fits in even better.

I'm using a Victorinox belt pouch that used to carry my SwissChamp to hold my Swiss-Tech MicroPlus.

The edges on the flathead screwdriver of the MicroPlus are sharp enough to have worn holes through a number of my jeans pockets as well as a tiny nylon sheath I had lying around.

I'm hoping the Vic pouch is tough enough to deal with the MicroPlus and will be flat enough to slip comfortably into a jeans/chinos pocket. It looks like overkill to me, but everything else I've tried has been unsuccessful.

Hi there,

I had bad luck with 2 seperate swiss pouches, the first pouch for my swiss tool barely lasted 3 weeks, the replacement pouch lasted only 2 months, took longer than that to get it  ...After that I got a cheap Nite Ize Pock-Its belt pouch, I have had it for 6 years now and counting and that was with 3 solid years of 6 days a week working, lol this pouch has out lasted 3 jobs so far....

I have a similar pouch, made by Leatherman (right-hand side of photo). Holds the Leatherman in the main pouch, has the back sleeve pouch for my DMT mini sharpener, and has two side pouches that fit a small Peak AAA LED light and a small ferrocium rod (found it on Country Comm):

The Mad Dog is the Pygmy ATAK...I've had it for close to 8 years (MD had to replace the sheath after a bad fall...just a small crack, but he remolded me a new one for free :D ) I've got a ton of mid-sized fixed blades, but the PATAK just fits me perfectly with the sheath, and carries extremely well under the BDU shirt.

My EDC has been an evolution (carried when on duty: Military)...I've recently just replaced my '98 Emerson Commander with the CQC-8, which is a great knife. I've also dropped the Zippo...I usually take it on hiking trips, but no longer for duty.
