Do the current Victorinox Evolution models, particularly the S101, have characteristics closer to the rest of the Victorinox line or do they still resemble the old Wengers in design, fit and finish? Thank you!

From what I've read/seen, they are mostly Wenger except for the can opener (Vic design), scale design (no recessed style Wenger scales).

Thank you SAK Guy. Those new style scales were what had attracted me to the Evo models (I know my preference is not universally shared) but I was also wondering about what had been the differences between the main blade profiles. I have the same model built back in the Wenger days and was wondering whether buying a Vic-made version would represent an upgrade.

My understanding is the awl and tooth pick\ tweesrs are also Vic tool now along with can opener and scale Chang.

Thanks folks. The only thing I'm not completely clear about, because of images I've seen, is the scales. Are they flat like all the other Vics or sculpted like the Evos were?

They look sculpted like the evo scales.

Thanks, once again, I'm tempted to purchase/order one just to see it but I've got to be sure to receive one made since Vic took over the production.

For the sake of investigation I purchased a knife. It has the late-Wenger sculpted scales and, except, maybe, for a fuller belly blade profile (and the lock), it is all Victorinox. Thanks SAK Guy and gene stoner for assistance in this significant advance of knowledge. We answered the question!

Agree, I also bought one a few months ago just to check it out. Here are a few pics of the Victorinox Evolution S16 compared to a Pioneer.
