The Victorinox evolution series don't seem to be that popular but if I had to get one sak I think the evo 14 would pretty much cover everything without having any unnecessary extra tools. Are the egos thinker than normal saks or is there something else I'm missing before I pull the trigger?

I have the Victorinox Evolution s111 and s16. Both have locking main blades. The "s" denotes that. I also have an Evogrip 16. I like all three, but my preference is the Evolution s111. I've realized that I don't really need scissors on my knives. For that matter, I don't need a locking blade on a Victorinox, either. I was just super curious so I purchased a couple of locking models. While I like the small 84mm size of these knives, I feel that the scales are a bit chunkier than regular Victorinox knives. The evolution grips work for me well, but honestly, I think I'm just as well served by my trusty Recruit, Small Tinker, Tourist, and Spartan. Plus, those models are generally cheaper than the Evolution and Evogrip models. There is nothing wrong whatsoever with the Evolution line. They are fine knives. In fact, I think they're pretty cool because they incorporate some of the best features from Victorinox and Wenger.

I have a modified S54 and a s111. I like them. I think the scissor spring/lever on the evolution line is a better design than the scissor spring, on all the other Victorinox knives. If you like the tool selection of the evo 14, then get one.
