The Victorinox Fireman model 54865 has a locking main blade with a "slider button" lock release on one of the scales. Do these typically have good lockup? Poor lockup? A buddy of mine wants me to take one in trade, but it has vertical play when the lock is engaged - quite a bit.
This being the first lock I have seen of this type, I'm thinking this might be somewhat normal for this design? and the lock might be more of a 'safety' to prevent it from closing on our hand? Or is it supposed to be just as tight as a normal liner lock or lock back knife, and this knife has problems?
The design is certainly different enough from others that I have seen that it at least raised the question in my mind. I don't know if I should consider his offer or if this should be a deal breaker?
Thanks in advance!
