Victorinox for Malaysian Armed Forces

i got the civilian version (111mm outrider)... the difference was the black nylon handles and corkscrew instead of philips on the back... i actually like it, but pretty bulky for EDC... would be a great outdoors skas though... it got very nice selection of tools and i love the scissor and full size saw...

I own an Outrider too, with red nylon scales, and it's quite big. For outdoors I think it's a great tool for the belt, but I prefer to carry a Leatherman tool instead, because in the outdoors I usually already carry a Farmer.

But, it is a cool model and if it's your only pocket knife, you got a lot of functions covered. Victorinox should make a Outrider with the philips screwdriver for civilian market too. Or is there already one?

If lost, with that camo, it will probably stay lost. On the plus side, the enemy won't find it either. Great looking knife anyway.

I would love to have a version with the philips instead of the cork screw, I would buy it if Victorinox puts it out.

that probably explains that huge bright 'n shiny coat of arms...
that's playing in safe in the field doesn't it ;-)

btw, anyone knows anything of the purported future indian army victorinox "toolkit" contract?

possibly a cross between the generic british army folder with a couple of swiss bladetools?

LOL! 50/50 chance it lands shield side up though. :D

Of course I would want the handle color changed and the cap lifter to the stronger Crate Opener/cap lifter that is on the Rescue tool or OHT. Come on Victorinox make it so, please.

wonder if that's standard issue?

Intereseting that they didn't go with the sentinel-style one hand opening main blade. Still would be a great one for the collection though.

Wow! Thanks for sharing! That's on my side of the world (although fat chance we'll ever get to do that here in my country).

I have been wondering why the Outrider doesn't seem to get that much press as compared with other models. It does seem to have a well-rounded combo of tools. Maybe the trade-off with bulk and weight?

I think the Outrider is a bit too thick for a lot of people. If I want to carry a 111mm SAK with a saw, I carry a Soldier. The scissors are covered by a small SAK; an Executive for example. The Soldier is one layer thinner and this makes it a bit more comfortable to use.

Thanks for posting the Outrider with Phillips head instead of the cork screw, I want one!

I want one too. A knife with camo printed scales may not be the best option for the outdoors, but it looks great.

Well thanks everyone:rolleyes: All this talk of the Outrider, I had to go and pull the trigger on one . . . .anyway, have a happy holiday!

Thanks for posting that. I always like seeing what knives are issued/used in other parts of the world. That would be a great one for a collection!
