I bought a Victorinox Campflame from the UK about a year ago, awesome knife, great for lighting cigars, but it will not stay lit for more than a second or two. My problem is this, I contacted the rep in the USA, was told to contact Switzerland, so I did, and they were VERY helpful, no putting me on hold, no voice directory serivice or anything, very very good. I was told that they will not fix my knife, but out of good faith offered me a different knife of equal vaule in exchange for my broken one. After talking to them for a while I was told that this knife has been very problematic and that they currently have taken back about 40% of the Swiss/Camp flames that were sold due to defective lighter/torch parts but could not tell me who made the lighter or where I could get it repaired. So my question before I take them up on this offer is, does anyone know who made the mini torch for Victorinox? and where, if at all possible I could get it repaired? I would much rather have this knife than anything else that they currently sell. Thanks in advance

As much as I sing the praises of the Victorinox Swiss Tool X and think it is the very best multi tool of it's type on the market I have to also say that the Victorinox company's customer service here in this country has a great deal to be desired. I too had one of those Camp Flame folders and I could not get mine to work properly either. I traded mine to a guy who likes to tinker with things and I think he got it to work. But I couldn't get any help with it at all.

Now I do dearly love a lot of Victorinox's line of products. I have some of the fanny packs and shoulder/back packs along with some of their other "Non KNife" products and they are the best. All of their cutlery and multi tools I find to be good quality for the price. But I have a problem with any company that has lousy customer service. Plus when you are dealing with a tool/implement that is potentially flamable/hazardous I find it reprehensible that they won't do something proactive to remedy the problem. And why don't they have a bonafide customer service department here in this country:confused:

Swiss Army Brands - aka Victorinox USA has always had outstandingly GOOD service - as many a Victorinox owner can attest.

I am not doubting your experience -

BUT one should bear in mind Victorinox USA (Swiss Army Brands) NEVER actually imported or sold the "Flame" series of SAKs in the USA -
many people questioned that at the time - I think it probably was exactly for the reasons you described for the hazardous/flamable potential.

I can understand one's possible frustration in dealing with Victorinox USA on these "Flame" SAKs -
but they probably had never set up to sell and therefore service the "Flame" SAKs.....
