Anyone know of a source to buy the Victorinox II series SAKs (Economy line) with Nylon handles?

I have heard of the (Economy) Climber II(?) at Lowes -
can someone please confirm, or otherwise, about this -
is it the Nylon handle?
and does the packaging indicate it is a "Climber II"?

Thanks

I got an economy Climber at Lowes for $8 and change several months ago. It even came with a sharpener. It is indeed the nylon handle model. As I'm sure you're aware, aside from the scales the knife is exactly like the regular version.

I don't recall whether the package said Climber II.

Haven't seen them there since.

Keith,

Thank you so much for the very quick confirmation about the (Economy) Climber with nylon handles from Lowes.

Do you by any chance recall if the packaging was similar to that shown for the Sportsman II - ie: Victorinox blister pack?

Thanks,

It was a blister pack. It was unusual in that it included a small sharpener, the brand name of which escapes me. The sharpener was not a Victorinox product -- I'm certain of that.

Not to get totally OT, but I bought a climber with a rally in a blister pack from lowes for about 10 bucks, but it seemed to be the regular handles-they're shiny plastic. I don't understand the "economy"designation.

Dijos, I believe the Economy versions have handles that feel like they've been beadblasted (rather than being smooth like the original versions). The Victorinox symbol is painted on and is not the metal inset of the originals.

I don't know whether the blade steels are different though.

OK, would you mind please checking your Climber with the polished red Cellidor (plastic) handles -

Does it have scalloped Swiss cross shield that's embedded metal (should feel flush and smooth), comes with the standard toothpick and tweezers?
This would be the regular full-priced line, and you got it at a very favorable price.

Or it is a simplified shield and press printed silver (one should be able to feel the pressed logo), and perhaps without the toothpick and tweezers in the handles?
Then this would be (yet another) Economy line of Victorinox SAKs -

This other Economy line (with polished red Cellidor handles but press-printed logo, and probably without toothpick and tweezers) is different from the Economy line (series II) I was originally asking about.

The series II Economy line come with textured/matte Nylon handles, with toothpick and tweezers.

Vincent,

I recently picked up an Economy Climber at Shepherd Hills Cutlery in Eddyville, KY. It came in a red and white box marked 3.37 03. A barcode label on the box read "Climber Nylon No Eye No Ring". It has no keyring, but the awl does have a sewing eye, so I'm not sure what "No Eye" means. I believe it was on sale for around $16. They were also selling a knife in the same type of box that I believe was a Sportsman II, however the larger blade was serrated. Neither of these knives is listed on their (Shepherd Hills) website.

They do show three nylon scaled SAKs on the website, the Eurosport 13, 14, and 15. Very little info is given on these knives.

These economy versions are really beginning to grow on me. They don't show scratches, and they are easier to hold on to due to the scales' texture. Either my new Climber or my Sportsman II from Walgreens is carried daily.

There must be variations -- my nylon-handled Climber has a key ring.

And to further confirm what I've got -- the scales are testured, and the logo is silver paint.
