Does anyone own the Kirpan (Sikh Dagger) that Vic launched in 2004? I somehow missed it then and I do not see them at their website now. Looking to buy a used piece if they have been out of production.

Haven't come across a Victorinox SAK (Sikh Army Knife :D) yet, but if I do, I'll let you know. Do you have any pics of it? I've seen plenty of Kirpans (Jot Singh Khalsa makes some really nice ones), but have yet to see one made by the Swiss/Victorinox.

I think the answer is probably in the press release, their offering was about 30-40 times more expensive than the usual alternative, the kirpans sold by vendors outside the Gurdwaras. Probably not an easy market to break into; for blades with ritual purposes the means of obtaining them probably becomes part of the tradition.

Too bad, they looked interesting. The few produced will probably fetch high prices among collectors.

There were quite a few produced and were available easily when they were. Too bad I did not have the dough then to buy one.

The only reason they were taken off would be their limited clientele and that they are more of a ceremonial dagger than a users knife.
