Hi all!

I was wondering... I've been big fan of Victorinox Finlandia-series. Which basicly is standard victorinox knives with Finlandia-crest on them and usually also clear blue sapphire handles with different naming from regular vic's with slightly higher price.

Like Victorinox SD is in Finlandia series: Victorinox Birdie. Manager is known as Finlandia Prime and Spartan is known as Finlandia Lion.

I was just wondering are there similar localized novelty series done by Victorinox elsewhere? If you have I would appreciate some pictures.

Here's what he means.
I like that blue a lot, but Im a bit turned off by the lion (it says: look Im a patriot!)

I also get turned off by those tweezers, toothpick (what the fuck?) and wine cork opener.

That's why I'd go for the aluminum ones, but thanks to the importers they only import the plain silver colored ones.

Well, I am not sure if you would call this one a "localized" Victorinox also, but this knife was/is used by the Dutch army. It is based on the Centurion and has the Dutch lion printed on the handle.

I don't have any pics on hand, but I've see loads of specialty scales on Victorinox over the years. Recently I took my wife and kids to the Austrian Alps and a hiking shop there was selling a Spartan model with "Tirol" and a nice painting of the Alps on the handle.

Thanks for picture I was meant to post later one. Nothing wrong in patriotism aslong you don't go overboard. However I fully agree with you that it sucks that aluminium handles you get are plain silver. I'd love to get full set of coloured alumnium ALox handled Victorinox Cadets.

Maybe i should post this under SAKs and multitools, but is there a DIY SAK to be bought somewhere? As in "you pick the tools, we make it for you?"

THAT would rock. Everyone has stuff they never need in their SAKs.

Anyhow, Spartan Lite is the best selection I've come across. If they made a Soldier with a real Phillips driver and a locking knife blade, I would be in Heaven.

. . . is there a DIY SAK to be bought somewhere? As in "you pick the tools, we make it for you?"

That would be awesome, but I doubt Victorinox or Wenger will ever do it. At one time, I guess there was something on a website, where you could tell them your needs in a SAK and they'd show you the best model, closest to what you needed.

I've got a bunch of busted ones here, that I'm tinkering with to see what can be made. Kind of interesting, really. Those Vic engineers are geniuses.

On the German knife forum there is a thread with a lot of nice pictures of "localized" Victorinox and Wenger knifes. Especially page 7 of the thread has some very nice models. Enjoy:

I should get over there more often. I can't read German, but the pictures are sure purty. :D Thanks for the link.
