For those that own the new locking Victorinox official issue folder(rubberized handle), how do you like the serrated blade for general tasks? What method do you use to resharpen it?

I use the OHT that has the same blade design in my vegetable garden quite a bit.

I love the serrations up front. I use it in particular to cut vines and grass away from the tines of my cultivator, cutting string, cutting back vines, removing vegetables from the plant and pull out the trusty old saw to cut back saplings, the drivers to maintain some equipments and the bottle opener for a nice beer or two afterwards.

For what I use it for, I find it much more useful than rear serrations and it cuts through the vine stuff and grass crap really well while letting me easily get into tight areas to use the serrations. It really is nice.

Normally to sharpen the blade I just run it through my sharpmaker for a little while and it sharpens up without a problem.

+1  I could have written every word of this post myself. Literally. Scarey  .

i have the 09 soldier and just strop it on the back of my leather belt after a long day. i find that the front serrations rock. i've never, ever, been a fan of the rear 'over-done' serrations a lot of blades have, and typically just find them bothersome. i use it for all my normal tasks and find that they are not so deep they get in the way.

i've seen a few videos youtoob that show people using a particular pocket stone on edge to sharpen the serrations when they need it.

I find serrations much more useful towards the tip of a knife then at the back. Rear serrations never made any sense to me as they are useless for wood cutting and push cutting. So I thought maybe the serrations on Victorinox locking folders would be ok. I bought The OH Forester with serrated blade. After two weeks I hated the serrations. I understand that if you are a Swiss soldier that don't care about knives and never ever sharpen your knife the serrated blade is going to serve much longer.
But for me, who keep my knives razor sharp and bring a DC4 stone when backpacking, they were totally useless. Does not cut fibrous materials better than a sharp plain blade. Can't be sharpened with a regular stone. Sucks for bushcrafting and makes ugly cuts in food etc.

So I sold my OH Dual Density Forester and got the Dual Density Forester with a lovely spearpoint plain edge blade. I tried the serrations. Will never go there again. No disrespect to serration-lovers out there, this was just my experience. :)

(p.s. The plain edge blade for the DD Forester is wider and nicer looking than the other locking Victorinox, love it!)

Victorinox serrations are wavy rather than pointy. According to an official video by Victorinox that I saw a while back, you sharpen their serrated blade using a pull-through sharpener. That means you can also use a diamond rod and pull it along the length of the blade.

I have that knife. I didn´t like the partly serrated edge of that knife. But I let me made from a knifemaker remove the serrated blade. I let him make a non-serrated-blade. So it´s a very good knife for any outdoor activities. Why did I make this? Because i wasn´t getting ok with this one. Especially because it was just sharpened at one side. I´m a left-hander, so the serrated edge was very bad for my daily uses...

Kind regards...
