Victorinox new White LEDs any good?

I have a Midnite Minichamp with the red LED. It's OK for finding keyholes in the dark, but it's not too bright.

I was wondering if anyone has a Midnite Minichamp or Midnight Manager with the white LED? I'm thinking about picking one up, but I'd like it to be at least as bright as an inexpensive white LED keychain flashlight. That'll save me a bit of room on my keychain. :D

Edit: If it helps for anyone who knows flashlights but not familiar with the Vics, the light is rated at 18,000 MCD... and I have no idea how bright that is.

I understand fauxton/keychain lights are usually pushed hard, making them bright but not long lasting.

I have a white LED in my Cybertool 34 Lite and while not as bright as some keychain lights they are good enough, and last a good time.

Also SAKs use smaller watch batteries (for compactness) and not the bigger ones.

Red lights are by design not meant to be bright, to save your night vision and animals don't see red as well.

Much thanks for the info! (I can't believe I haven't seen the YouTube video. I've probably watched a zillion of them by now, lol.)

As to the red. I understand the benefits, but even for a red light it's weak. For my purposes, I want a light that I can both see with and be seen with, as I don't hunt and my Army days are long over, so no need for light discipline.

I really wanted to like the LED "Lites". Generally speaking, I don't need much of a flashlight beyond reading a map in a dark car or finding a keyhole or peering down a clogged garbage disposal.

However, it wasn't the brightness that killed the idea for me. It was the fact that they get bumped on so easily in pocket. Furthermore the switch goes in the "wrong" direction. See, if they didn't get switched on so easily in pocket it wouldn't be a big deal. however, to correct this one might thing about putting them in a belt sheath. The problem with is that because the switch slides BACK putting them in the "correct" way of leaving the key ring accessible to pull them out means that as you slip it in, the switch gets turned on.

I've tried them several times. They have been regulated to traveling in my wife's purse for her use (very handy). I'll stick with a nice non-Lite and a photon on my keychain.
