I have a 25+ year old Victorinox Officier (Officer's) model that was actually purchased for me in Switzerland by my sister. It appears to be very similar to the Swisschamp marketed stateside. Are they the same or was this the predecessor of the Swisschamp?

Since the Swiss Champ was introduced approx 28 years ago (1986)...there is a good chance it is a Swiss Champ. Does it have pliers? If so probably a SC.

The Swiss Champ's predecessor was the Champion and was also still in production at that time. It does not have pliers.

Pix would help with the ID as there were a lot of different models made.

SAK Guy,
Thanks for the feedback and the excellent link. It appears that it never had an exact US equivalent. It has no pliers and the top tier tools are the same as the Champion Plus, but it retains the long nail file with the magnifiying glass and inline Phillips s-driver. The bottom has awl/reamer, fine screw-driver, corkscrew and king ring only.

You're welcome...a very nice vintage SAK!

All the long nail file versions are sought by collectors!

I think that because the older ones are harder to come by, and are much less known, they are not as represented on SAKwiki. I'm also guessing that short runs, or "production prototypes" would have all been sold in switzerland instead of shipped elsewhere. So it could be less that it doesn't have a US equivelant, but it could be that it was part of the Champion development cycle, I would figure it to be pretty rare in that case. It would be really cool to add a photo of yours to the wiki.
