Hi guys,

Some time ago, Swissbianco posted on this forum that a new cadet series was going to be available. The picures showed these new editions in a nice box, with a leather pouch. I already owned a regular alox cadet (plain metal/silver colour) and this was my go to knife for a lot of occasions. Why? Well, because it doesn't lock, which makes it legal to carry in my country. Second, because it looks good and it doesn't tend to scare people. Third, because it does a good job for what I usually need my knives for.
I already saw the previous range of colours, and prices of those where going up while you were watching the auctions, so to speak. I already wanted an orange one, but didn't see any come by for some time so I decided to order one from the new line-up.
Communication with Swissbianco went great, and after one week of waiting I could finally welcome a new package at my doorstep this morning.

I was thrilled and couldn't get it open fast enough. Upon opening the envelope I could see the nice packaging. It looked stunning! The cut-out to display the knife was a real eye-catcher.

Opening the box revealed the knife and the leather sheath it comes with. On the inside of the lid, underneath the Victorinox logo, it said: Victorinox, Companion for life. Could not agree more with that.

Apart from the sheath and knife, the box also contained the obligatory short swiss army knife manual.

At this point, I was astonished by the beauty of this knife. Beauty in colour and most of all, beauty in simplicity. However, I did notice a difference in regard to my older Cadet, but I couldn't yet tell what it was.

Then, when my other Cadet joined the photoshoot for a quick comparison, it became clear. There's no keyring on this one. A miss? Maybe... It does make the knife even more beautiful in my opinion. Now it's even more streamlined, slim and unobtrusive.

I'll close this little photoreportage with two more shots of the knife in its leather sheath -which is well made by the way-.

As for performance, I do not expect this knife to be any different as to the original Cadet/any other Sak. I already said I was very happy with the performance of my original Cadet for the use I tend to put it through (which are usually light tasks). My original Cadet will remain my go-to knife for school, work,... So this orange one from the new line up will be mainly a collection piece. Not because I don't like it, but because I like it too much. However, I might take it with me to some family reunions/work related dinners and such.

In short: get it while you can :-)

I have Alox Cadet as well. I have always found it to be one of my nicer knives. Will have to see what other colors they offer.

Yup. I got another Black one. And as for the keyring, it is a welcome change. I actually ground the one off my older EDC silver Cadet, I like to think they took inspiration the from my handiwork.:D

I should have bought an orange one back when they were on the target shelves. Little did I know theyd be so rare and hard to get hold of just 4-5 years later. Thank god for my hunter green cadet. Shame its a user, I shouldve bought oe of earch Lol
