I'd like to know if anyone knows the colors used on Alox Pioneers, both factory and SFO (Swiss Bianco). I'd also like to know which models had the striker on the backspring.

I have a black Pioneer, and would like to get an olive green Pioneer. I've seen the regular silver, the red. The dark grey looks good. Pics are welcomed. I've found my own Nessmuk style consists of my peanut, Pioneer and one off Kephart with a 3" blade for everyday use works best for me. Nothing wrong with my black Pioneer, I'm a knife nut and have gotten hooked on these alox SAKs.

I have an orange Pioneer. It's a non blade forums dealer SFO.

The orange isn't an SFO, as far as I know.

Limited Orchid (factory pic) These have the 2016 date already engraved into the blank panel on the back and come with a little nicer packaging.

I have Pioneers in black, dark gray, light gray, and steel blue.
I have Farmers (same as Pioneer with saw added) in bright blue, copper and OD green.

Yes, your right Eric. I forgot orange is readily available now. I got this a couple years ago or so. At that time, the dealer I got it from was selling it as exclusive to that shop only. The purple pioneer would look good with the new purple GEC 72 :)

On a side note, the pioneer makes for a good motorcycle ride carry. Slim, lightweight, stainless...and holds up fairly well when dropped on the ground.

Any pics of the strikers on the back spring, I've not seen those before?

How do you guys like the pioneer? I carry a few different leatherman depending on the situation. I generally require a scissors in a multi tool, the pioneer x fits the bill, but it looks a little big. Sounds funny saying that compared to a leatherman, but I am looking for something when I wanna roll light. Or maybe I am just wanting an excuse to buy another knife.

Here are some photos of the "fire steel" from Roger (swissbianco). He has a manufacturer forum here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/850-SwissBianco

hello,

another special sak is ouer firesteel farmer, it did start an couple years ago with an idea of mr brunner, an well known swiss knifecollector and expert for old fashion firemaking. he wanted to design an practical tool for make fire coupled with the swiss army knife, the soldier sak and he contacted mr fischlin regarding make the needed parts and the first # or firesteel sak where born.

we did meet on one of mr brunners knifeexpo and he was exited to have the firesteel sak in an orange color style sak so its easy to find if dropped in the woods. since i like the saw of the farmer we added that layer to the firesteel. unfortunally mr brunner did pass away prior the first orange sak was made, we keep his design up in remembering of this great swiss eidgenosse!

so how it works? on the backside of the sak is an permanently attatched, rounded and feeling well in the hand pcs or hard carbon steel. you use an tinder bundel, if possible spl fire fungus plus an flint and strike the steel part with it so the developing sparks land on the tinder. damon eggert and i did test it out several times and made an video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8lgQ47pu1g

Thanks for that Jake, I've actually seen those pics before, but completely forgotten! :o Nice idea :) I'd thought what was being talked about was some kind of match-striker on the back spring, something which I guess could be added fairly easily
