alright this is my second review plus something I did WITH the knife

The knife i actually bought on vacation with my family (i also bought the soldier i reviewed earlier a day later from the same place). I ORIGINALLY bought this knife for my grandfather because I broke one of his cheap swiss army knife knockoffs years ago but it turns out he didnt even remember it happening and had since bought another. Since the only real parts on the knife he used were the blade and the screwdriver I bought him the Pocket Pal and a small screwdriver for his key-ring. The Soldier was bought for me mainly because it was the only left hand specific knife I'd ever seen and I automatically fell in love with it because of that.

The pocket pal is not a huge bulky knife at only 3 1/4 inches long closed. The small blade is perfect for small cutting tasks and the larger blade is best suited for day to day tasks such as cutting food, string, boxes etc. I was surprised because this was my first victorinox and i was amazed at how sharp is was out of the box. i still did sharpen it up a bit for my grandfather but it was not a bad blade out of the box. For the money it's definitely a great knife to have. especially if all you really need is a slipjoint blade.

One of the things that my grandfather always did that I always thought was interesting was whittle. I used to do it a lot as a kid and with my girlfriend at college I started it up again along with crabbing. here are some pictures of a VERY basic project I've started as i'm trying to get back into it. To explain it My initials are "TH" and my girls are "EL". After I'm finished making these I plan on sending them to her for her dorm room.

^ This was what I started with. I drew the shapes on the 2 wood blocks with a pencil.

The original plan was to stack it just like this with the "EL" on top of the "TH" and stack a heart on top of that. after a while I decided i had already MADE a heart about the right side and that i didn't care that much to make another one

^ This is what I carved away from the "TH" and the "EL"

Please tell me what you think of the whittling, give me some ideas for the future, tell me how the $%&* to get the center of the "E" carved out, or tell me how your days doing if you wish. I'll add pics of the knife and the whittling when i'm done
