My Victorinox Executive scissors will not close and the large blade on the other side has no resistance when opening or closing almost like the guts of the knife have shifted. This was after a go around in the washer, just curious how lenient Victorinox's warranty is. Anybody have any experience with this ?

I believe if you send it in they will fix it up or replace it. Could it just need peened to tighten it back up?

I had to take their warranty service about two years ago. I had a nice Vic Soldier, which I go new. The springs were so stiff, I could not open it. So I sent it back to Vic in CH. After two weeks, I got a phone call from Vic (!!!). The situation was explained. They replaced the knife and a little handwritten note was added to the new knife.

Vic is great with their costumer service. Absolute great guys!!!!

Kind regards
Andi

What has happened is one of the internal springs has broken. If you look carefully on one side or the other you should be able to see it. Victorinox will fix this under warranty. Just send it in along with the newly required postage fees and your all set. It may take some time though as most posts here about warranty service shows it taking 8-10 weeks or more. You should get back the knife with a replaced spring and new scales, and inserts.

I think you hit the nail on the head,I can see the broken spring. Thanks

I'm currently mulling this over. It will probably cost me $10 and a wait of a month or so to go the warranty route...or I could buy a used one on Ebay.I can't decide.

Send it in would be my suggestion. Let them fix it and you'll get it back before you know it.

You guys talked me into it,It's going out in the mail tomorrow.I sure do miss it in my every day routine

I agree with dfwcowboy. Don't feel guilty, as this should not have happened in the washer. It is a stainless steel spring, after all.

However, do expect to wait several weeks for the service. (if my last experience was any indication)
