Does anyone have any experience with the turn around time for minor repair/adjustments on Vic multitools. I sent in my Spirit on January 5th for minor adjustment of the pliers/wire cutters (mild play making it impossible to cut stranded cable) and am wondering how long to wait before an inquiry is due.

Well, I hate to say it but experience with repairs the last year or so have been quite variable. Some people report fine service and others report several month wait and some have never received their knives back (me). Advise to always send certified, return receipt requested.

I sent an SAK in on July 21, 2006 and had a brand new replacement in hand on August 8, 2006 IIRC. My knife was inexpensive and well used, and since I live in Connecticut (and was shipping within state, so transit time would be minimal) I used First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. The SABI rep recommneded sending it via a trackable method.

Based upon my one experience, I would recommend that you NOT send Vic SAKs to the U.S. repair center. Hopefully, you will have better luck if you send them to the Swiss repair center.

I sent my SwissTool to the Shelton CT repair center (I live in PA) and they had it for over 2 months. I wonder if they really repair them there, or do they send them off to the factory in Switzerland.

They are done in CT.
