Just wondering what % of your Victorinox SAK's have blade play (in the main blade). Almost all are perfect except for 2 (explorer and cyber-tool). The great QC on vic SAK's has amazed me considering their high volume output. I want some peoples data points on Victorinox SAK blade play (just for interest & a general consensus).

thanks guys.

I've had a dozen Victorinox SAKs over the last 35+ years and none have had lateral blade play.

The blade play in my cybertool was developed over the years. The explorer had blade play out of the box - guess that's a very rare thing.

Over the years, have your user-SAKs develop blade play?, or have they remained tight?

Tight as a drum.

I could see loosening in a Cybertool, if you used the bit driver a bunch...lots of torquing. The Explorer should have went back to Dealer/Victorinox...it would have bee warrantied.

Out of 8, the only SAK with blade play is a PE OH Trekker.

Both my Swisstool and Spirit X have substantial play.

Oddly-- all of my locking Vics have play, none of my non-locking ones do.

I have a couple brand new stag handled champs with slight blade play, and at least one older champion. I also have a 1960s era Master Craftsman that had some play, but a slight squeeze in a vise tightened it up nicely. It does happen with SAKs, but it is very rare.

None of the play is in the main blade, however. It is always either the file, or the pen blade.

For being pinned construction and also fairly inexpensive SAK's continue to impress me with such tight tolerances on their knives.
I have some over 30 years old with no type of play at all and these are users.
Now my newer Soldier has a slight bit of up and down but all Vic liner locks do this and it is still a great knife IMO.

Almost all my SAKs, mostly Victorinox and a few Wenger, have no blade play. The only one that has a little blade play is my Victorinox Soldier 09. Once I had over 200 SAKs, but I sold a lot of them, currently around 50.
