When I ordered my red alox Farmers from Amazon last week, I saw a Deluxe Tinker on sale so I pulled the trigger. My EDC SAK is a Super Tinker (large blade, small blade, scissors, "perpendicular" Philips, hook, awl, can opener, flathead). The Deluxe Tinker adds a pair of pliers, which, like SAK scissors, take up a whole layer (spring).
I ripped open the box today and, after drooling over the red alox Farmers for a while, I opened the Deluxe T and was amazed to see that the pliers and their spring are nearly twice as thick as 'normal' Vic SAK layers! This monster is technically four layers thick but it's really as thick as my five-layer Ranger.
I'm satisfied with my current EDC but the Deluxe T is an interesting conversation piece as well as a nice little tool. The pliers aren't exactly on par with my Surge or SwissTool in terms of size, but the quality is typical Vic and they seemed ideally sized for electronics and such.
