Just to show you a new arrival, my Victorinox Soldier year 1980. I was lucky enough to find one of them in near mint conditions. No blade play at all, springs are still really tough. Few differences in front the other modern Soldier I have seen, you may see them in the pics. A nice touch is the Waffen Kontrol mark.

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Alfredo

Nice Alfredo, good to see you here

Very nice! I recently got an 88 Wenger SI that has a bail. It was near mint as well. Love that knife!
I'll never understand why they went from the wire stripper that was on the pre-93 soldiers to the little wire bender/stripper notch. The older version seems so much more useful. Can anyone explain this?

Nice score, Alfredo. I only have one Wenger in my collection and it is a Soldier. I'm with Jack on bringing back the hollow rivet.

Thanks for showing - they are great knives - aren´t they!? I have a Soldier from 1983 (my birthyear) and it definitelly needs some restauration ;)

Great knife, Alfredo!

I wish that Victorinox would bring back the hollow rivet.

Indeed! The hollow rivet with the bail is making such a great, classic look. I love the Wenger SIs due to this kind of construction. Unfortunatelly they are gone forever - at least it seems like this.
It would be great to get the SI in their "new" Delemont collection.
I could kick my own b*tt as I didn´t get a bunch of these SIs when they were still available in most hardware stores :( :grumpy:

I recently got an 84 Victorinox Soldier, and I really like the little differences on the old ones. I was surprised that the can opener and bottle opener are much thicker on the old ones.

Very nice knife Alfredo.
I also like the hollow rivet, most of my hollow rivet Soldiers are Wengers so it is nice to see a Vic with one.
Enjoy the knife it is one great, time tested pattern.

Open both the spearpoint mainblade and the cap lifter. Place the wire to be stripped in the notch on the cap lifter and close the cap lifter. The close the spearpoint man blade on to the wire. Press on the spine of the spearpoint mainblade a bit and twist/turn the wire to cut the insulation.

One of the most recognized knives in the world for good reason. Great pics! Enjoy that alox......

:)

That is the best explanation I've read so far. Thank you!
I still like the old style though.
