The Space Shuttle model was available in the mid 1980's for a limited time and with its special Space Shuttle log seems to have become quite a desirable "collectible" model -

According to the books it was based on the Master Craftsman model (US#5044)

By looking at the tools combination I figured that the Swiss/international model # was 1.47 63

Just out of idle curiosity I did a search on Victorinox 1.4763 to see if that model was still available
- and very much to my surprise I found a single listing - that looks current
- and even more surprising was this image:

Note the later combination of tools and (obviously) that Space Shuttle logo! - and that listing looks current -
however I can't display or read Japanese - but it looks as though the Space Shuttle/Astronaut - might still be available "updated" to the current tools combination - the hook is a Post-1991 addition on the back of the scissors layer/backspring.

The catalog page:

shows it's priced at 6,000Yen (~US$51) - compared to the 6,080Yen of the Handyman (1.3773) and the Craftsman (1.4773); 5,600Yen of the Ranger(1.3763.71) and the 7,200Yen (~US$61) of the SwissChamp (1.6795) - so it's reasonably priced relatively when compared to the commonly available models - so there does not appear to be a premium for that model even though it actually has the Space Shuttle logo......

Very interesting! I remember when the "space shuttle" model was available through Smoky Mountain Knife Works back in the late 80's early 90's. I always thought it looked cool, but I never bought one, I opted for the Swisschamp instead.

Very insightful stuff, every year about this time I find myself being drawn to SAK's. They sure are fun!
