Hey there fellas. first time posting on this side of the forums hoping to get a few answers.

does anyone know what kinda stainless steel is used in sak's? specifically the one hand trekker?

i just bought one today and i must say.. for my first sak i am very satisfied.

its a very good knife and i like the fact that victorinox didnt put the serations at the back end of the blade but at the front.

this is a key feature of importance to me because i make alot of fires when i trek and having the plain edge at the rear just makes making feather sticks alot easier :D

so yeah.. my two questions are:

1) what kinda stainless is used in the victorinox line
2) how are u all liking ur OHT?

thanks in advance

I love my OHT. It is a kind of modified Sandvik stainless. You will hear a lot of Mumbo Jumbo about this but, it is close to Sandvk.. a darn good stainless steel! IMHO.

Since it's your first SAK, let me say: good choice. Although I tend to like the classic SAK's (Handyman, Compact, Spartan...) a bit more, the OHT is a very good knife, simple, sturdy and reliable. I'm really satisfied with it (I bought the german army version) and the serrated blade (that particular kind of serrated blade) is really useful.

I'd like to help you about the steel but I'm not an expert, I don't know what kind of steel they use. What I can say is that it's really easy to sharpen and it basically never rusts. Those blades are made to last long. ;)

good to hear.

my two favorite things about a knife

easy to sharpen

and doesnt rust

considering i live along the coast (b.c.) i tend to poke and proud alot and spend my time along the beaches :D

so this is great thanks guys

i appreciate all and any info ^^
