I have forgotten what kind oil stainless steel Victorinox uses, but did find a reference to AISI 316L. I do seem to remember they run it at HRC 56. If anyone can confirm the type of stainless steel used and its HRC rating, I would appreciate it. Thanks. John

If memory serves, the 300 series of stainless steel (316; & 318 being the most common) are non-magnetic.
I know 316 and 318 are used for cooking utensils, and top line marine hardware.

56 HRC for the blades seems to be accurate. Other tools and springs can be softer.
Victorinox makes a secret about the steel they use. I always read "very similiar to 1.4110".
