Received a Stayglow Rambler today. This is my first Victorinox in maybe 8 to 10 years. I used to carry a larger model backpacking. This knife was purchased as an "ultra friendly" companion to the 3" bladed knives I usually carry.

First Impressions
Victorinox isn't kidding when they say "Stay Glow." In the couple of minutes I had the knife out of the box outside, it charged up enough to glow brightly in the stairwell of my apartment. I've had all kinds of glow in the dark things over the years, and this one is the brightest I've seen.

I'm a little confused as to why the scissors are the toughest tool to open on the knife, while the blade and even bottle opener swing almost freely. Of course, this knife was bought on eBay, so I'm not sure if that's normal. Even so, I don't feel that it's a safety issue on a knife this small, especially because the handle is too small to grip in anything but a pinch-grip.

It features Rostfrei steel, mon! Better than INFI, and holding an edge longer than any new super-steel, mon!

Just kidding. I know it's generic Stainless, but it takes a pretty good edge, and will probably hold it for a couple days. That's one nice thing about Swiss Army knives: the grind is so thin they seem sharp even when they're getting dull.

I love the Stayglow material. It's bright florescent yellow, very friendly looking, and textured so it provides a decent grip. It also feels 'nicer' than the red plastic 'classic' scales.

It's nice to have a bottle opener on this small of a knife.

The scissors are surprisingly useful especially for their minuscule size.

The nail file does its job very well, better than my old SAKs IIRC.

The Philips screwdriver is ingenious. It fits eyeglass screws, all the way up to large screws on appliances around the house.

The blades and tools all have a “Stonewashed” random scratch pattern that’s nicer than the old all chrome look.

Dislikes

Slip-joints are a bit loose, but YMMV.

Keychain ring gets in the way, and can get jammed against the nail file/screwdriver tool. Minor annoyance, and I can always take it off. While fooling around with this, I figured out a way to block the nail file/screwdriver blade by attaching the lanyard and pulling it over to the side.

It’s somewhat secure, and almost makes it ‘locking.’ It’s unfortunate the key ring isn’t near the blade!

Almost hurt myself pulling the stupid toothpick out the first time. At least I know no one else has used it! I’m exaggerating, of course.

Final thoughts

Overall, I’m very happy with the knife, especially for around $20.00 shipped!
