Hello all I am fairly new to the multi tool world. However I have had this Victorinox Swiss Tool X for a little over a year now. It seems to be a quality unit for sure. 2 questions: Being one who desires quality are there any significantly better tools out there? If so tell me who make them? Also where is a good source for multi tools maybe like on the internet?

Hey JD,
I don't own a ST X, but they have had rave reviews here. The newest tool I have been impressed with is the new Swiss Tool Spirit PLUS. The quality is extremely good and the PLUS gives you very capable extra features that put it over the other contenders IMHO.

Unless you need a more needlenose pliers or you want something a bit more compact, your older ST is still in the top ranks.

You can do some searching here or follow the many links in this thread for more ideas:

You can use froogle to find places to buy and then check in the "good bad and ugly" forum for their reputations.

Hey thanks a lot Klattman!! I really appreciate the feedback. I am going to look into the newer Victorinox Spirit model for sure. Everyday I go to work I take the Spyderco Spyderench and Swiss Tool X with me. I am amazed about how much I use them both. Thanks again Sir :)

There is no better quality tool out there than the SwissTools.

The Leathermans are liked by many for some different features (like one handed opening), but their fit and finish does not compare to the SwissTool.

IMO, the Swisstool is also more durable and a better tool than the Leatherman (I have Wave new and old, Charge TI and Charge XTI). The leathermans all twist a lot more than the Swisstool.

IMO, you have the best tool out there - especially if your constrain the discussion to quality.

For me its clear after buying all of them the winner Swisstool, more robust and heavy duty tool than any.
I´m waiting my Spirit we´ll see.
Enjoy
