Hello!
Recently acquired a new Victorinox Campflame for a good price knowing full well it might not work...and sadly, it does not--despite following all relevant instructions and using good butane!
There seems to be a leak somewhere which presented itself about the sixth time I tried filling it. The first few times, the gas went in, but nothing came out the burner side, alas, no flame. It may have been clogged, but canned air didn't help. If it was air in the line somewhere, I tried purging it completely a few times until there was definitely nothing left in there with no luck.
ANYWHO...I know these are collectible and this might sound blasphemous to some, but I really like the idea of a SAK lighter and would love to try and modify it into a flint/zippo style lighter. I know this isn't the lighter forums, but anyone familiar with this knife have any ideas?
I figure if I could remove the valve and see what's inside, I'd have a better idea of how difficult it might be to put cotton and a wick inside. I would also likely have to create some sort of flint striking mechanism at the top as I doubt the piezo would be enough to ignite a saturated wick.
When I unscrew the valve, it just keeps turning (counterclockwise), but doesn't come out. No visable screws holding it in place that I can see...
Anyway, just a thought. I really like the knife, and if it becomes a big long project, I think I'd very much enjoy the challenge. Anyone have any ideas or know of any SwissFlames / Campflames that have been repaired successfully?
Thanks all! Odd post I know.
