has anyone tried one of those new victorinox swissflames? that lighter is a sweet idea, but how well does it function? and what about the voyager, the alarm clock in a knife is a great idea, but are there any problems anyone knows of, battery life and such?

I don't have a Swissflame but there was a thread on Knife Forums by someone who does. He said that it worked well but the knife itself was a little thick. I do have a Voyager. I've had it for over a year and the battery is still going strong. The alarm is actually pretty loud and works well in addition to my mechanical watch. The only drawback is that the knife is NOT waterproof. This keeps it from being an excellent camping knife. BTW it does have a countdown alarm as well but it's kind of a pain to use. You have to set the number of minutes each time and it starts the countdown immediately. I will admit the special size tweezers in the front of the left handle scale is kind of novel.

I have it on good authority that the Swiss Flame is fine except for one aspect, the flint for the flame.

Replacing that can be quite a pain. If you are willing to overlook that minor problem then it should be all right.

I thought it was piezo (spelling) electronic ignition?

it is piezo( correctly spelled BTW)ignition according to the website. so i'd think the only pain would be refilling the butane. and i think someone was telling me that they accidentally made them all left handed or something...i was distracted by the gorgeous Sebbie in my hands that was about to be mine.
