Does anybody else have a Victorinox with this shield design and also does anybody know what year they changed it?
Sorry the pic is a little blurry!

Not sure, does the main blade have "Victorinox swiss made stainless" stamped on it?

It says ' Victorinox switzerland stainless rostfrei ' on one side and ' Economy ' on the other if that helps !

My mine has the same shield design, as for dates when it changes not sure. but i did get mine from my grand father when i was about 8.

I think that was the shield used on the Victorinox economy line. My first SAK has that shield, its from the mid eighties, a 84mm recruit (minus toothpick and tweezers). I think all the 84mm used to use that shield. The 84mm i've seen lately have the new shield like the one on the 91mm and 111mm Victorinox's. I have no idea when they stopped using the small shield.
Check/search SOSAK they might have info on it

hi my first post
i really enjoy SAKs

not very accurate info but the "triangle sheild" as i call it- i know this was around in the late 60's and early- mid seventies because i remember it-some were marked elinox as i recall

there was an inlaid metal version -just like the current type -but the shape above
and the economy version-embossed

as qan aside i have another elinox model -one with st christopher instead of the SAK cross-and based on the fact that this has a philips which does not have the file on the side of the phillips -i presume elinox may have been the economy model of the time-i speculate because my other SAKs of the era with phillips did have the file-certainly a more costly feature

and

i recently purchased a current economy version
it has the modern shield shape embossed in silver paint and on the synthetic plastic handles that feel like tortex -not smooth but a tiny pebble typep finish-like on the glow in the dark and side lock versions

to my experience there are no other differences-same fine steel and smooth mechanism-in some ways nicers-they are very light and mine is slim and a slightly smaller size

Can anyone provide some insight on the symbol on this knife? Approximately when did Victorinox stop using this symbol? Thanks!!
