Do any of you SAK buffs know if there's any significant difference between the One-Hand Trekker and New Soldier, other than cosmetics? It seems that the Trekker is available with or without serrations, and the handle scales are different. Is there more than meets the eye, or is it basically the same knife?

From what I can see the Trekker is $5 less and has tweezers + toothpick.

The Solider has a locking bottle opener/6mm flat head and has serrations.

I think both bottle openers lock open, but you're right about the tweezers/toothpick. Thanks.

I'm still not sure which one to get, though :D

The new soldier is basically the German Army knife they've had out for a while.
I know that they put a pocket clip on something and I thought it was going to be the new soldier but I can't find any proof.

The new Army knife has rubberized scales, also. It's quite nice.

I bought the Trekker several months ago ($26, free shipping, Amazon), and at that time a slightly different green military model was available as an import:

From your photo the Knife Center green model looks identical other than the scales and the missing toothpick/tweezers. Yes, the Trekker does have a locking bottle opener. Mine has the reverse half serrated blade too.

I saw somewhere a pic of the one-hand Trekker now also available with a plain blade.
I have the serrated Trekker, it's very nice but I would have preferred a corkscrew instead of the philips "cross" screwdriver at the bottom. OTherwise I picked it over the soldier model because of the tweezers and toothpick. Actually, why wouldn't those be useful for soldiers as well? They don't add weight or significantly reduce strength so I wonder why these were left out...

I have a Trekker and the cap lifter locks open. It is my favorite knife for working around the house.

The primary difference is the serrated blade on the New Soldier and plain edge blade on this Treker. I have been looking for the non-serrated Treker for some time. Smokey Mt Knife Works had them cataloged but were not in stock (yet) when I last visited.
