Ok, I hope this hasn't been discussed before, but here it goes. I am looking to buy my sons (12 and 10) a knife to be the basis for a survival kit. I am looking at the vic trekker but I am not to happy with the main blade being fully serrated. Does anyone know of a vic. similar to this one without the serrated blade. BTW i would like one with the one handed opening option. THANKS

What I've heard is their all serrated (I could be wrong) and they are coming out with a new model Trekker with a different, rounder hole. Suppose to be better/easier to open.

I'm not much of a serrations fan myself but the way Vic does it (in front of blade) and the size of them (not to large) it's not bad and I can live with it. It is a fine knife/tool to have and start off with, your a good dad :)

I'm not sure how to get one, but check out the OHT in this thread.

All Victorinox one hand opening knives have the front 2/3 of the blade serrated, unless you manage to get one of the Swissbianco limited addition knives. Wenger (the other company that makes SAKs) has a new line of Rangers (http://www.wengerna.com/browse/browse.jsp?cat_id=1&sub_cat_id=85), which are slightly larger than the Vics, some of which are one handed opening and appear from the pictures to be plain edged.
