I'm new to this forum and new to forums in general so any help would be appreciated.

I wanted to know if there is a way to tell what model and possibly what year a Victorinox knife is by looking at it? Or would it require a lot of research or maybe help from the manufacture? I have a few some purchased overseas and some actually purchased in Switzerland probably twenty years ago and would like to know a little more about them and maybe their value. Thanks

DB

as far as model, yes, you can tell what the model is, just by the set of "tools" contained in the SAK. as far as what year it was made, there is no way to tell the exact year.

for example...

moved to more appropriate sub-forum for inquiry...

Try the BR Levine sub-forum with pics. There is a sticky to help with the pics. There are a lot of knowledgable people about pocket knives and knives in general over there.Be patient about getting your questions answered. Sometimes it takes a bit. Welcome to BF!--KV

Sorry I wasn't sure where to post this question. Which sub-forum would be appropriate?

Nothing to be sorry about. This forum is set-up specifically for such inquiries and discussions.

if they have tweezers and toothpick, with lanyard hole/bail be sure they've been made in the last 20 years, when I saw 5 or so I got a 85mm sak without toothpick ans tweezers so from what I've learned it the don't have these "tools" they are older than 20yrs, if they have them they are more recent

if they have a burr on the edge or minor ussues then they are rather new..
alox soldiers have stamps on the tang until (20)08

hope this helps,

in the past 25 years, i dont recall any common SAK really appreciate in Value alot... one thing that cross my mind is Scientist or alox with marlin spike...but even that model wont cost a fortune... unless its a vintage that 60-80 years old, every models are ordinary tools

SAKs are tools, and since billions of them manufactured every year, i wont hold my breath to expect them as a great investment...

dont get me wrong buddy, these are just my humble opinion-- Collecting SAK are just a hobby to pleasure out satisfaction--

i know you curious about yours... if you could post some foto, we would try our best to help you.... if you have difficulties, i could help you post them here if you could email me the fotos...
