I had this knife at the Arkansas Show, but did'nt have time to have it photographed before the show. One of those late night knives just under the wire.
The blade is 1084 and the handle is Ironwood. The fittings are Stainlaess and bronze. 7 inch blade and about 13 inches OAL

The new owner is a nice guy and will understand a couple of days delay. I'll know for sure when he sees this:D , Lin

Lin,

That is a great piece and I love your choice of ironwood.

It seems that a google search would have been in order. I apoligize for stepping on any toes. :o

I must say that The Fitch knife is a beauty. You should be very proud to own that one.

I'll come up with a different name. Any suggestions? Lin

Lin,

I am sure that there are twenty "Vidalia Fighters". Its a good name stick with it.

Raymond, stop it . I'm just a man.

You know I'm kiddin! Thanks,It turned out fairly good for this small timer.

You must have been posting while I was eatin crow. That John Fitch knife is one of the best I've seen. Lin

That is a terrific piece Lin - well done indeed. I love the way you accented the ferrule. The new owner will be wearing a silly grin for days.

I agree with that. As a touchstone name within Bowie lore it has been so widely referenced that no-one can really claim ownership.

Vidalia Fighter!

My favorite onion in the whole world.

Im sure the new owner will be very happy, if he ever gets the knife :D

Look for the Rhea Vidalia Fighter at a ECCKS near you.

Keith, You are right, I'm sure. I have read the historical as well as the fictional accounts and as with other knifemakers, I wanted a name that has some connection with the sandbar fight. This would be a little short in the blade from what I read, but if you guys can put up with it, Vidalia Fighter it is. WWG, I love the onions too. Thanks, Lin

Very nice looking knife, Lin. I have a similarly shape blade on the anvil that I am planning to do up similar to Bill Moran's ST24 prototypes with a real deep false edge. Yeah sure....that THAT'S gonna turn out well at my skill level....:D i must admit that , while i am very familar with the infamous sandbar duel, I thought of the sweet onion first when I saw the title....hey....I'm from the Deep South....what do ya want? LOL
