Video: Al Mar Shrike

welcome mesoscopic to the forum. a real decent review of that product.the shrike seems heavily built with a nice blade profile. do'nt know that it offers any plusses over the b.m.710 but if it is current inventory it's nice to see bg42 which is a good performer. i noticed the plastic & deducted you work in a facility with cold storage or travel some distance since singapore is a real sweatbox.[just a thought]

@Dennis Strickland: I never got the chance to handle a BM 710 which is kind of popular among BF members, no experience with D2 tool steel either.

The BM710 with its modified clip-point does have a good curving belly (great for slicing) maybe IMO its tip isn't as sharp as that of the Shrike (accidentally jabbed myself on the palm once).

It's also tip-up, left or right carry (something which I have no experience with).

I find the BM 943 and BM 520 to be good-looking folders which seem tough enough for EDC. Too bad, these folders are for tip-up carry only, left or right. Anodized aluminium alloy handles will lose their colors after sustained exposure to sweat and friction.

Also, the original Stryker and AFCK are two old Benchmade folders that I would like to handle since they look good on paper, but their use of titanium liners made me think twice about getting one for daily use.

My first folder was the Blackhawk MOD CQD Mark 2 (Duane Dieter design) which I carried since May 2006 before I got a small linerlock, the Gerber Mini-Covert which after a few months of use made me more confident of getting linerlock folders in the future (provided they are made right).

The Shrike was my third folder so far.

Thanks for the kind words on my little review on the Shrike. :D
