I had to prep some firewood for this evening so I thought it a good chance to give the Anniversary Ratweiler LE a go.

An amazing knife. I was a little apprehensive at first due to its thin blade, but thought better of it and knew that it would be fine. I split a bunch of smallish but really hard eucalyptus logs. Not exactly sure of the actual wood type though. Regardless, it provided a great test for the knife.

The knife is very light, for obvious reasons, but is incredibly robust. The handle design is great, really ergonomic. I haven't tried any hard chopping with it yet, but will in the near future and I'm sure it will perform beautifully.

I'm normally used to doing this kind of work with a big thick chunky blade, but I had fun with this one. Swamp Rat's SR101 is amazing stuff. Tough as hell and holds an amazing edge. As you will see in the video, after all that beating, it still shaves my arm effortlessly. This knife is going to look awesome once it gets a nice patina going on it.

So, on with the gratuitous knife porn...

Thanks for the pics and video....I'm still waiting on my Anniversary Ratweiler, so this helps me cope.
That is some brutally tough wood you have down under. Must be all that added pressure of the world above....Ha

Great stuff!!! :D

Thanks for taking the time to film & post Rob!!!!!!!!

awesome.... And you are right about the Busse heat treatment. It really is amazing.

I did a similar test on a RMD a couple of years back with the same results, still shaved.

Awesome vid! Only a skilled flip flop wearer would slip it off and use it as a knee pad. Fine job mate!!
