I have imagemixer 3 SE which came with my canon vixia HF R100,,,i am looking at Sony Creative Software Movie Studio HD Platinum Suite 11 V or SONY VEGAS MOVIE STUDIO HD VERSION 9....now with the image mixer it took a long damn time like 45 min to save 13 min of edited video. My comp is a dell with windows vista home preimum,,intel core 2 duo E4600 @ 2.40 Ghz, 32 bit...graphics media card is Raedon HD 2400 pro.

Thanks

Do you mean it took 45 minutes to "render" 13 minutes of video? That's not *TOO* bad I guess, esp if it was HD video. I have used Sony Vegas a bunch, and I like it. My dad is a videographer by trade, and he uses Sony Vegas as well.

What I've come to realize with hardware when you are video editing is this: It doesn't matter how fast your computer is, you will never think it's fast enough ;)

after the editing i did which i effed up, thats another story,,saving the work as a final,,,so yes render....i dont know if i should back out of the frame rate and resoulution,,,it "really" does not have to be in HD,,,i would like to get a program before i redo my editing,,as the 3 files that the edited version came from is over 1 gig..i dont want to have a bunch of wasted gigs of space

Well, a render isnt *just* a save, which is why it takes longer than just saving a file

the 3 files that the edited version came from is over 1 gig
That's very small for video that you are editing, esp for 13 minutes of video. ;)

Welcome to video editing. Some people who do video editing consider themselves lucky to have *only* 500 gigs of video. I have some friends who even have mutiple 1 terabyte hard drives reserved for JUST video clips. As far as it being a "waste" of space, that all depends on how you look at it. If you had thousands of dollars in your wallet, would you think you were wasting precious wallet space? :) Are you hurting for free space on your hard drive? If not, 1 gig is nothing, esp for todays computers.

Is this going to be your first and last editing job?

thanks for the reply!! really appreciate your time....as far as hd space i just put in a 1TB and have another slot in the pc case thats empty...i may just fill that with a 2 or 3 TB,,just to have some "extra" room

I do my video editing on a RAID 10 configuration with 4 2TB hard drives on a 6 core Intel i7 980x. I don't have any great video editing recommendations, but I would recommend using VLC Media player for compressing as it's fast and uses all available processor cores.

If you want something simple, Cyberlink Powerdirector 9. (The old versions have bugs, but the v9 is really good.)

Or Sony Vegas. :)
