Put these two up head to head for a little fun comparison today. Enjoy...

Awesome video, thanks for sharing! Gonna have to get my hands on a FBM one of these days.

On a side note, I've noticed that the CS Trailmaster and the FBM (or any Mistress, really) seem to be compared an awful lot. Is it just because they're roughly the same size or is there some other reason that I'm missing?

This probably isn't how it is, but it's how I kinda see it, and it's probably entirely incorrect, but I'll speculate anyway. I think back during the 80s and 90s the Trailmaster was one of the ultimate big choppers that was widely available, therefore it being a popular choice amongst knife nerds who wanted a solid and hefty chunk of sharpened steel. Then Jerry Busse comes out with INFI and his amazing Battle Mistress designs. Arguably some of the best choppers/big general purpose outdoors knives ever made. So it's only natural the two will end up being compared :)

The FBM remains one of my Favorite's-a simply beautiful, efficient tool, thanks for the Video Rob!!!

Awesome video, I love me some FBM.
Hope soon we will see a vid of the NMFBM in use :)

Oh yes there will be one! I just haven't had the guts to do it yet! hahaha!!! Never thought I'd say that. :D

Ha ha I understand how it must feel.
By the way I also hope at some point you do comparison with the MOABOLO and the MOAB, I am curious to hear about the efficiency of chopping comparison.

Yup, me too-The Moabolo has quickly became One of my Favorite's-Cheers

Awesome video Rob......now if only someone would come up with a mallet that could last as well:D

haha yeah tell me about it! Might just have to resort to using the old fashioned segment of tree branch baton.

Cool video Rob!

I have an old piece of elm that's about four inches thick, I chopped a handle into one end, it's held up great for over a year now. Here's the best pic I have of it, after giving my NMFSH some love, :D

..... this exactly... the TM was THE big knife out here back then. To many, who are only casual knife folk, they still are.

Nice video. I have thought about getting a San Mai Trail Master, but have heard similar complaints about that rubber handle. TM is a classic, sweet blade and a handle re-work with micarta would be awesome.

nice video Rob. I agree with you and Andy about the TM in the sense that before I *really* got into knives, I also thought CS was the obvious choice. Only after owning high end pieces like various Busses and kin, and a CRK beast called an "Impofu," among others, did I realize that there were other choices.

nice job

Great video Rob!! Quick question -- is your FBM .32 inches thick or .25 inches?? Thanks man!

If it was a full tang design, it would be much better I reckon.
