Something I put together to test stability. I still haven't figured out a way to get a DIY jig built with very limited tools. To buy tools and materials you approach the cost of an edge pro.

Things I've learned:

With the box on the anti slip mat, angle adjustment is very quick, just push or pull the box a bit to match the angle you are working with.

Building a dedicated blade clamp isn't going to be easy. A separate clamp would be needed for extra large and extra small blades.

Using a clamp sucks when you need to undo it to work on the other side of the knife.

One rod per stone would work better than one rod for all the stones, unless I buy all stones of the same size, which might make sense as part of a sharpening jig.

For some reason I find using the box of some generic version of jenga just hilarious

Just an idea but for attaching the stones to the rod you could try worm gear hose clamps they wouldn't stick out like the clamps your using. You could even daisy chain them together if you were using a wider stone. A plus is they're cheap and every hardware store has them.

I ordered 21eu worth of thermoplastic (plc, polycaprolactone, friendly plastic, shapelock, polymorph). This should help in molding fittings and get this project moving.
