Something I put together to test stability. I still haven't figured out a way to get a DIY jig built with very limited tools. To buy tools and materials you approach the cost of an edge pro.

Things I've learned:
With the box on the anti slip mat, angle adjustment is very quick, just push or pull the box a bit to match the angle you are working with.
Building a dedicated blade clamp isn't going to be easy. A separate clamp would be needed for extra large and extra small blades.
Using a clamp sucks when you need to undo it to work on the other side of the knife.
One rod per stone would work better than one rod for all the stones, unless I buy all stones of the same size, which might make sense as part of a sharpening jig.
