Video - HOG NOSE WAR SWORD & MOAB

Great video. As I watched I thought the MOAB did a bit better, bigger chunks of wood were removed. To me the MOAB is the ultimate Grail knife of the big Busse choppers.
 
Great vid! Happy belated birthday.....love your comparison vids they are great!.... just ordered up an AK..wonder how that would do against the Hog Nose

Looks like the moab bites a bit better. Probably due to its thickness lending more mass/weight to each bite.

Still, a good size comparison

How's the edge geometry on the Hognose?

Do you think it could use a little thinning out?

I'm pretty sure if the Hognose edge was reprofiled and if the user gained more experience/comfort with it --- it would be a totally different story.

That MOAB though --- it's terrifying --- I really like it ;)
 
Also curious to hear what you think about where it stands compared to your cherished TTKZ/MOABOLO/1311/BGBB13

I'm going to have to do a head to head comparison methinks. But from the initial use I've experienced, I'd safely say it out chops all of those listed. But at an expensive stamina/strength cost :)

The geometry is pretty good. It's a little obtuse at the end, up on the sweep toward the tip, but along the main cutting edge it's pretty good.

The main cutting edge is pretty good. I plan on beating this knife a lot, and sharpening it and reshaprening it, so it'll eventually thin out a little to whatever my freehand angle is.

Mate, an INFI Hawg Nose would be awesome! A fatty too. Maybe .32 FFG. That would be unstoppable.

I counted the chops in your vid, and the Hog Nosed War sword (Cut 1 - 28, Cut 2 - 30 ) actually edged out the MOAB (Cut 1 - 31) ...
At about 20 - 25% the cost of a MOAB, that is a MASSIVE price to performance ratio blade!!!
