A recent example of the Kukri Dance, performed as a fundraiser in Britain for "providing all of the 8,100 Gurkhas who don’t receive an MOD pension, for various historical and technical reasons, with a basic subsistence pension of £41 per month [about $65 per month]. Although that may not sound like much to us, at Nepalese prices that will buy things like rice and onions that are absolutely essential.”

It is very unfortunate that Nepal is one of the poorest nations on earth and can't support it's veterans. There is a town near Kathmandu that is called the "Kidney Bank" because people go there to sell a kidney for money to survive. Selling body parts is against the law but it goes on all the time. Other organs are sold too.

The widespread poverty and lack of education forces Nepalis to do desperate things to support their family. Gurkha's at least have the Gurkha Welfare Trust. That can hold these cultural events around the world to support their people where the Nepali government fails.
