I'm computer illiterate so am tempted by the video professor adverts on the tube. Have any of you thoughts to offer on these? I'd appreciate thoughts/opinions on any other means if you've got 'em. It's past time that I learn to get more out of this thing. Classes aren't an option account on call 24/7 and no schedule for work. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any of his products. However, just recently (within weeks) I saw his ad where he was holding up a CD with a course on Windows ME while giving his speech. That kind of attention to detail is enough to make me want to stay away from any company.

I say "skip it", even though I haven't used the products personally. There's probably nothing on those CDs that isn't already in your computer's Help files.

I do like the ... For Dummys books. Great references and great for achieving a low level of competence in a minimal amount of time. I probably couldn't use half of the computers that I own without DOS for Dummys at constant standby; I have a lot of very old computers. :(

Still, the best way to learn more about your computer is simply to use it more. I've never had a computer problem or question that couldn't be solved with a Google search. Online references and intereactive help forums ( www.computing.net for example) are free and available at your leisure.

Exactly what operating system and/or software do you want to learn more about? Anything in particular you wish to accomplish with your computer that you're not currently capable?

Best Wishes,
-Bob
